How can you reach us?

By car: the hotel can only be accessed by car from the northern tip of the island, via Árpád Bridge (Árpád híd). Turn right at the Margaret Island exit in the middle of the bridge, then turn left into the car park and continue towards the hotel.

To get the discounted parking rate, please press the HOTEL button at the barrier when you arrive. Failing this, we will not be able to provide discounted parking.

The area of Margaret Island is closed to car traffic, and you can only drive as far as the car park in front of the hotel.

The parking fee for our hotel guests is HUF 5,500/day (ca.15 EUR), the underground car park fee is HUF 8,000/day (ca 21 EUR). The ticket must be validated at reception each time you leave the hotel.

Air-conditioning

very hotel room is equipped with air conditioning. The cooling system is centrally switched on depending on the season and can then be adjusted individually in each room. The air conditioning stops if the terrace door or window is opened.

Babies & Kids

If you are travelling with a baby or toddlers, we can provide you with a foldable baby cot, high chair, plastic baby bath, potty, and toilet seat reducer for free upon request. Please let us know in advance when booking.

Bathrobe

The bathrobe in your room has been placed here for your use and is a courtesy of the hotel. A fresh one will be supplied once every three days.

Electric current

Insert the magnetic key card received at the reception into the slot on the switch box next to the room entrance, this will activate the electric network. The electric current is 230 V/50 Hz. The current available in the bathroom is only suitable for the use of a razor, all other appliances should be inserted into plugs in the room.

Cleaning

Daily Cleaning: to ensure the cleanliness of your room, we have introduced a multi-tier cleaning system. Please specify how you want us to clean your room by hanging the relevant instruction card on your door handle each day: Full daily clean / Eco room refresh / Thanks, no need for cleaning

Emergency exit, fire

Every floor in the hotel is furnished with fire alarm equipment and fire extinguisher, and there is a smoke detector in every room. In case of fire the guests are alarmed by a siren sound and are requested to leave the hotel as soon as possible through the nearest emergency exit by following the escape route shown on the emergency escape map on the back of the room door.

Safe

Safes in the room and at the reception may be used free of charge. We take no responsibility for any objects not placed in a safe.

Sewing kit, sewing service

Sewing kits are available in the wardrobes in every room. In case your clothes have suffered a considerable damage, do not hesitate to take advantage of the sewing services in the laundry.

Smoking

The entire hotel, including the balconies, is non-smoking. Look for smoking areas designed in accordance with Hungarian law near the entrances! In Hungary, the law on the protection of non-smokers is very strict, our hotel has the right to impose a fine for violating the smoking rules, the amount of which can reach 250 euros.

Pools: open air (seasonal) and indoor swimming pools, thermal pool, Jacuzzi. The thermal pool (37-38°C) is filled with the healing water of the in-house spring.

Sauna: Our sauna world is equipped with 2 Finnish saunas (separate for men and women), a steam bath, an infrared sauna, an aroma cabin and a relaxation room

Sun terrace: It is accessible from the first floor of the Thermal Hotel or via the swimming pool. Open seasonally.

Upon reservation, ladies can use the thermal pools on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays exclusively between 12 noon and 1:00 p.m.

Treatment price lists
The thermal mineral water of Margaret Island
It is particularly effective in the treatment of musculoskeletal diseases, muscular and nervous system complaints, peripheral circulatory disorders, and digestive problems, assists regeneration following accidents and surgery. Bathing in thermal water is also an excellent way to relax. It’s suitable for drinking, it soothes the inflamed mucous membrane in the digestive system, it cleanses the body and is good for the liver and kidneys. You can drink up to a litre of it a day.

Business Center: there are two computer stations in the lobby of the Thermal Margaret Island, and one computer with internet access in the Grand Hotel.

Pet Policy

Pet policy: we’re happy to accommodate cats, as well as small or medium-sized dogs, at our hotel! We kindly ask all guests travelling with their cat or dog to accept the following rules:


  • Pets can be brought into the hotel. They can be kept in the hotel rooms and, under the supervision of the guest, they can use the common areas to access the guest’s room, but they may not be taken into any of the other premises (restaurant, swimming pool, etc).
  • The guest will be held fully liable for any damage caused by his/her pet
  • Max. 1 pet per room
  • Cats and dogs only
  • Additional charge: € 25/night
  • Pets must be kept on a leash or in a carrier basket in the common areas of the hotel.
  • When booking your room, please let us know that you intend to bring your pet with you.

Traffic & Transport

The area of Margaret Island is closed to car traffic, and you can only drive as far as the car park in front of the hotel. 

Public transport: bus number 26 runs between Árpád Bridge (Árpád híd) and Nyugati pályaudvar (Western Railway Station) every 15-20 minutes. There is a metro connection at both ends of the route. The bus stop is right behind the hotels.

The BudapestGo application, which can be downloaded for free on your smartphone in Hungarian and English, helps you plan your trip, find accurate information on services and buy your ticket. You can also buy tickets in our gift shop or on the buses, from the driver, for HUF 600. (Please have the exact forint amount ready when buying your ticket on the bus.) For longer stays, it is worth buying a pass.

Margaret Island

The island

Margaret Island is the perfect base for exploring Budapest, as the bustling city centre is within easy reach of the hotel. Take long strolls through the lush, green parks of the 2.5 km-long island, and if you are feeling more energetic you can swim, cycle or run just a few steps away from the hotel. The island is surrounded by the Danube, Árpád Bridge (Árpád híd) from the north and Margaret Bridge (Margit híd) from the south, which offers one of the most beautiful panoramas of the city at night. The park has ancient trees, a rose garden and a romantic Japanese garden with a small thermal lake and a waterfall. 

Attractions & Entertainment

The mini zoo is a children's favourite, and there is also a playground near both the northern and the southern tip of the island. 

The stage next to the Water Tower is popular for summer evening concerts as well as open-air theatre performances. You can find out more about the programmes and tickets of the Margaret Island Outdoor Stage at https://margitszigetiszinhaz.hu/en/.

The ruins of a 700-year-old Dominican church and convent and a Franciscan church can still be visited, and the country’s oldest church bell still rings on the tower of the Premonstratensian chapel.

Sports & Leisure

The Musical Fountain, at the end the island near Margaret Bridge, offers a special experience, with familiar melodies every hour from 11:00 to 22:00 during the summer season and a special light show in the evenings.

In the high season, four-wheeled pedal cars for 2-4 people are available for rent in the northern part of the island.

We highly recommend the Palatinus, one of Budapest's favourite water parks, which awaits those wishing to swim and have fun every day from 9:00 to 19:00/20:00, depending on the season and the weather. 

Those who like active recreation will enjoy the 5.3-km well-lit, rubber-coated running track and the Hajós Alfréd sports swimming pool.
