Marienbad Royal Golf Club
King Edward VII opened this golf course in 1905. It is the oldest golf course in the Czech Republic and this 18-hole course is also the only golf club in Continental Europe to have earned the title of “Royal Golf Club”, which Queen Elizabeth II bestowed on it in 2003. It lies right outside of the Emperor’s Forest, only three kilometers from the city centre. Unlike newer courses, its small greens pose big challenges to the players. Precise play and technical skills are a must here: water hazards, steep drops, and a large number of sand traps require concentration. The surrounding forest offers plenty of shade, as well as fresh air in the summer. The golf course also enjoys a beautiful view over the surrounding landscape. The clubhouse’s traditional English style complements the golf course perfectly and provides the perfect setting for the many international competitions that take place here. Play golf on this course and feel a bit of the old-England sensibility that the course has preserved. A round of golf at the Marienbad Royal Golf Club is always a delight for the eyes, especially in the autumn as the leaves change their color.
