Easter Concert: Mozart's Requiem

The Easter Concert of the West Bohemian Symphony Orchestra is dedicated to the spiritual works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The central work of the programme is the Requiem in D minor KV 626, the last composition of the composer's life, which Mozart wrote in 1791 and did not finish. The work was completed by his pupil Franz Xaver Süssemayer and is still one of the most frequently performed sacred works ever. The programme is completed by Laudate Dominum from the Vesperae solennes cycle, composed in 1780 for the Salzburg Cathedral. This movement is notable for its simple, cantabile melody and contrasts with the dramatic character of the Requiem.

The concert will be performed by the West Bohemian Symphony Orchestra and the Hans-Sachs-Chor Nuremberg Choir. Conductor Guido Johannes Rumstadt will take the baton, and the solo parts will be performed by Michaela Katráková (soprano), Šárka Hrbáčková (alto), Martin Slavík (tenor) and Jan Ericsson (bass).
