Hévíz-Balaton – a Hiking and Water Sports Paradise

The surroundings of Hévíz are rich in forest and beautiful cycling trails. Well-developed cycle paths, marked-out routes of varying degrees of difficulty, and bikes for hire all make it easy for you to enjoy the natural landscape on two wheels.

The town’s sights can be explored on a nimble and peppy Segway. Simply climb on and speed off – that’s the name of the game!

Whether you want to make a quick foray around Hévíz’s thermal lake or are planning a long hike into the Keszthely Mountains – everything is possible in Hévíz. Either with the classic two poles or at a quick pace, numerous routes will tempt you to get moving in the fresh air and the glorious landscape.

If you’re in Hévíz with children, the Tavirózsa Adventure Park is the right destination for you. Just two kilometres from Hévíz, the adventure park sets children’s hearts racing, as does the go-kart track in Keszthely-Kertváros.

Is the thirst for adventure giving you the itch? Take off in a hot-air balloon and enjoy Hévíz in peace and tranquillity from the air. The trip takes about an hour as you soar over meadows, hillsides and villages. You’ll be introduced to the art of ballooning and at the end you’ll experience a typical balloon baptism.

If you prefer to go down into the depths, you can cross the subterranean lake in the lake​ cave of Tapolca by boat, 30 km from Hévíz. You can explore the Csodabogyós Cave, close to Balatonederics, but only with trained guides. However, the cave tours which are offered always provide subterranean experiences of a special kind.

The Hungarian Sea, as Lake Balaton is called, is only six kilometres from Hévíz. The largest steppe-lake in Central Europe is a mecca for water sports. Sailing, surfing, water skiing, wakeboarding, fishing, boating and of course swimming – choose what you like. Here you have all kinds of possibilities in which to enjoy the water in the sun and the wind.
