Your Ensana Buxton Crescent Spa Day Essentials: A Complete Packing Guide
Introduction
Picture this: you’ve arrived in Buxton, admired the stunning shape of the historic Crescent building, and stepped through the antique wooden doors to our luxury thermal spa. How do you feel at this moment? Calm and relaxed and ready for a day of pampering, we hope! When you spend a day at the spa with us, knowing what to bring with you can help you to feel confident and prepared for pure relaxation.
While knowing what to bring with you can help set you up for the best spa day ever, knowing which bits to leave behind is also important so that you don’t over-pack and feel uncomfortable and unsettled with too many bags to keep track of. This guide is designed to help you know exactly what to expect and what to pack on a Buxton crescent spa day.
The Basics: What You Absolutely Must Bring
The first and most important consideration is what clothing you should bring. Swimwear is a requirement in all areas of our spa, especially considering there are three unique and different swimming pools to explore here, not to mention the five thermal experience rooms! There are no set guidelines on which types of swimwear are allowed, whatever you feel most comfortable in will be the right choice.
If you’ve chosen to enjoy a treatment during your spa day experience, then bringing a spare set of dry swimwear to wear during your treatment is advised, although disposable underwear is also available. If you plan on making use of the gym or fitness studio, then don’t forget to bring along your workout gear and trainers.
Flip-flops, towels and robes are all provided so you won’t need to make room in your bags for these items. Our premium changing rooms are well-equipped with GHD hairdryers and straighteners, so you can leave these at home too.
Refreshments: Keeping Hydrated and Nourished
While making the most of our spa facilities, it’s important to keep hydrated, especially if you’re enjoying our heat-based treatments such as the sauna and steam rooms. Throughout the spa you’ll find stations to refill your water bottle, or glasses are also available if you prefer.
The Buxton Crescent spa cafe is also available throughout your spa day experience for light bites and a range of refreshing beverages. From salads to sandwiches, you’ll find a selection of nutritious options available. If you’re celebrating a special occasion, why not add a glass of bubbles to your lunch? (Please note that glasses aren’t allowed around the pool areas).
Comfort and Leisure: Enhancing Your Spa Experience
In between checking out our three pools, five sauna and steam rooms, salt cave and ice fountain, you might just find time to unwind in one of our two relax rooms. These rooms are ideal for chilling out before or after your chosen treatment, and are the perfect spot to flick through your favourite magazine or catch up on some pages of your latest book. Just remember that our spa is often a wet place to be in! So perhaps don’t bring any treasured first-edition hardbacks with you.
If music helps you to unwind, then of course feel free to pop in your headphones and drift away into a tranquil zone, but please remember to keep noise from devices to a minimum to respect your fellow spa-goers.
Packing for Special Treatments
While swimwear is an essential of your spa day packing list, you might want to consider the type of treatments you are planning to have during your visit, as this could impact which of your favourite swimming costumes you bring along. For example, darker coloured swimwear is advised for our Therapeutic Mud Pack, as this may stain lighter fabrics. If you are planning on a facial treatment, consider bringing a headband or hair tie to keep longer hair out of the way. For all of our expert-led physiotherapy treatments, comfortable gym or loungewear is advised, so don’t forget to bring those along if you’re booked in for a physio session.
What to Leave at Home
Our premium changing rooms have secure lockers that are free of charge for our day spa guests, so personal items like your keys and phone can be safely stored, however we would recommend keeping any precious, valuable items back at home.
As mentioned, plush towels, fluffy robes and comfortable flip flops are all provided for your spa day experience, so you can leave all of these items at home too.
Ensuring a Smooth Spa Day at Ensana Hotels
When you arrive in our spa reception, after admiring our beautiful stained-glass windows and checking out our unique heritage features, you’ll be greeted by one of our friendly reception team, asked to complete a health questionnaire and shown through to our changing area. From there you can find your way down to our thermal spa area. Don’t forget to explore upstairs to discover the spa cafe and course, the stunning rooftop pool!
Depending on the spa day package you’ve booked, the team may ask you to pre-order your lunch or afternoon tea options on arrival just to ensure a smooth service when you’re ready for your refreshments.
Conclusion
Overall, the main thing to remember when packing for a spa day at Buxton Crescent is your swimwear - a wet and dry option is advised if you’re having a treatment during your visit. Don’t forget to make the most of all our facilities if your chosen package allows it, and prep for your treatments and gym access with the right clothing too.
Once you’ve got those bits sorted, you can relax knowing you’ll be ready to enjoy your visit to the luxurious and historic Buxton Crescent Spa.
