Sovata’s salty Bear Lake was born from a natural sink hole, which, millennia ago, was a lagoon, flooded by the sea. This 5-hectare, warm-water lake, surrounded by mountains and woodland, offers rich healing resources.

Mud is harvested from Bear Lake, (Lacul Ursu), so-named because it is the shape of a bear’s hide. It is famous for treating gynaecological conditions in women. When inserted as a tampon, it has great results for reversing infertility, menstruation and menopausal symptoms and for repairing tissue after gynaecological operations.
