Diadynamic Current Therapy

What are diadynamic currents

This treatment uses a simultaneous application of galvanic and alternating electric currents (so-called diadynamic currents). These have an inhibitory or facilitatory effect, depending on the frequency, intensity and other parameters. They are applied via plate electrodes with protective sheaths placed either across or along the treated area. The length of a standard treatment is between 6-12 minutes.

How diadynamic currents help

Diadynamic currents may relieve pain, relax or stimulate the muscles, or improve blood circulation in the limbs. You may perceive the tingling and reddening of the skin or light muscle contractions, respectively. Diadynamic currents cannot be used in obese patients as the fat deposits under the skin block the conduction of this type of electricity into the target tissues.
