Peloidokinesiotherapy
What is peloidokinesiotherapy
The medical name of this procedure means a treatment by movement in peloids (i.e. mud or peat). It is carried out in a small tub filled with a warm healing thermal mud (in Piešťany) or peat (in Marienbad). The hands including the wrists are immersed in the warm liquid mud/peat, and then put through a number of exercises under the direction of a physiotherapist.
How peloidokinesiotherapy helps
The treatment is especially effective in improving the mobility and blood circulation of the hands, utilising at the same time the healing properties of mud/peat. The therapy results in a reduction of local swelling and stiffness in the joints of the wrists and hands, as well as a relief of muscle tension in these areas.
