Skin Cryotherapy
What is skin cryotherapy
Local skin cryotherapy is performed using liquid nitrogen, the temperature of which is around -200°C. The liquid nitrogen is kept in a special vacuum container. It is applied with a cotton bud or by a cryospray directly onto the skin. The length of application depends on the size and depth of skin lesions but can be around 20 – 30 seconds.
How skin cryotherapy helps
The extreme cold provided by the liquid nitrogen instantly freezes the unwanted skin cells, causing their death. It also radically decreases skin sensitivity to pain. Such effects have long been used to treat warts on face or limbs, skin lesions due to excessive sun tanning. Within 2-3 weeks, these dead cells are shed by the body and the lesion heals, covering it with healthy skin.
