Medical Massages
Reflex Massage
What is Reflex Massage
This type of massage works with pressure on certain points or areas of the body in specific maneuvers. Reflex massage does not use any oil or other lubricant, only contact between the therapist´s and client´s skin is applied with the aim to affect inner organs or other parts of the body which are connected with the treated area through sensitive nerve endings. The massage is carried out in one of four areas: the head and neck, the back, the chest or the pelvis, depending on the location of health problems and the judgment of the therapist.
How Reflex Massage Helps
Reflex massage affects connective tissues and the autonomous nerve system through a widespread network of free nerve endings in our skin and other sensitive receptors in connective tissues. Pain or tension from internal organs or tissues deeper under the skin often projects on the body surface as so-called hyperalgesic zones (i.e., painful zones) or trigger points. Through surface manipulation of the respective skin section (segment) we may influence the deeper tissues in return and thus regulate their function.
