Shortwave Diathermy
What is short-wave diathermy?
High-frequency, short-wavelength electromagnetic waves emitted by the device are transformed into heat in the body. Special electrodes are placed on opposite sides of the treated area or a special insulated cable is wound around a limb to generate a wide electromagnetic field. High frequency currents can be applied continuously or in pulses, depending on the doctor's instructions. High frequency currents do not irritate the skin, muscles or nerves, as in the case of low or medium frequency currents used in electrotherapy.
The benefits of shortwave diathermy
The warming effect of shortwave not only improves circulation and blood flow to the tissue. It also stimulates the function of the immune system, thus fighting inflammation. In addition, it lowers blood sugar - this effect persists for several hours. In general, the curative effect of shortwave diathermy persists for almost 48 hours, so the procedure is performed every two days.
