Yoga

What is Yoga

The word yoga means ‘union’ in Sanskrit, the language of ancient India where it originated – the union of mind, body, and spirit. This is done through a series of postures, each of which has specific physical benefits. In addition to these postures, yoga classes may include instruction on breathing or meditation.

How Yoga helps

Many people think that yoga is stretching, but whilst stretching is certainly involved, yoga is really about creating balance in the body through developing both strength and flexibility. These postures can be done quickly in succession, creating heat in the body through movement, or slowly to increase stamina and improve the alignment.
